Food Tripping in Boracay

People usually go to Boracay for the sun, sea, sand, and parties...but I see something more than that in this well-loved destination. I see baby back ribs that fall of the bones, ingredient-packed Mongolian bowls, mouth-watering pastas and pizzas, refreshing shakes, and much much more!

Those were the exact things and experiences my friend and I encountered in the island last month. We started our vacation off with a trip to the unlimited feast of Mongolian bowls at Sun Village. Mixing our own versions of fried rice or noodles was a great experience that we will definitely repeat. My ripe mango shake was also a great way to cool myself after walking on the powdery white sand of the beach!

The next day was greeted with lunch at Hawaiian BBQ, with a great view to boot! We had our fill of the famous Hawaiian BBQ Baby Back Ribs, which literally fell off the bones as we touched them. The sweet taste of pineapple blended well with the barbeque sauce, giving the ribs a sweet, tangy flavor.

We went snorkelling and island hopping in the afternoon to burn off what we ate, but by the time we came back to shore, our stomachs were screaming Italian food! After our shower and foot massage, we headed off to Aria for our margherita pizza and tagliatelle tartufo with prosciutto di parma and asparagus, which we paired with an Italian white wine. Apparently having room for dessert, we headed off to Aria's Gelato to get our fill of stracciatella and cioccolato gelatos. Oh, what a lovely dinner it was!

After hearing about the famous ribs of Gasthof, we knew we just had to try it so that we can compare it against our previous day's lunch...and we weren't disappointed! Ribs were great! Though they did not fall off the bones, the barbeque marinade and sauce was closer to the ones we'd taste in Texas. To cool ourselves off, we ordered a dalandan shake each and that was superb!

Since we were there on a Tuesday, we saw the crepes at TriBraz were 50% off! That's where we headed for dinner...the plates were familiar...they looked like the ones we see in Cafe Breton. Well, we shared the Diablo and the Banananifique crepes because we just had to pass by Jonah's for our Choco Banana Peanut shake fix (by the way, we had the Strawberry Banana the day before and it was fantastic!). Going back to the crepes...they were so good - a good texture and chewiness coupled with the tasty filling!

We can't leave Boracay without having the famous longga burger! After walking the length of the beach that night, we just had to grab a bit or two of those, so off we wento to find one stall and buy ourselves some!

For our last day, we had to pick up the calamansi muffins we ordered from Real Coffee...so we used that as an excuse to have brunch there. The Banana French Toast and the American Pancake were great! To top that off, we had the Real Coffee which added perks to our steps even as we said goodbye to the beautiful island paradise we lived in for four days. Till our next trip!
